Because we finally received LOA (yay!!!) we were able to send a package to Finley at her foster home. Over the past few weeks we have been putting a package together to introduce ourselves to her. The most important item we sent was a photo book I put together with captions in Chinese, I also had it printed a little larger so she would be able to see the pictures more easily (we won't know the degree of her vision impairment until she gets home and we can have her tested). We also sent a couple of dresses in the hope that we would be better able to tell what size she is if we got pictures, some sunglasses and sun hat and some treats for her foster siblings. We mailed her package Priority Express International via USPS on September 2nd and it was delivered on the 7th...that is crazy fast! Shortly after that we received the best picture ever, this is her carrying the box we sent to her home from the post office! We were told she insisted on carrying it all the way home :)
And then a couple of days later we received pictures of her opening her package...
Here she looking through her album, I cannot even explain what a treasure this picture is! That's her looking at us for the first time! The dress she is wearing is one we sent so she must have put it on immediately...it's a perfect fit so all of those size 4s I packed (yes I am already about 80% packed for our trip!) will definitely fit.
Modeling one of the pairs of sunglasses we sent.
Her smile melts my heart!
Striking a pose in another outfit we sent...had to send some Hello Kitty to our girl! Those caterpillar shoes she has are so funny, may have to pick some of those up while in China.
The concept of adoption is so abstract to little ones her age so I don't know that she fully understands what is about to happen. One of her close friends in her foster home is being adopted Monday so that may make it a little more "real" for her. We do know they are working with her to help her with the transition, it is such a blessing that she is in such a wonderful place where she is loved and cared for and being prepared the best she can for leaving her foster family to meet us. As much as we are looking forward to meeting her, it will be another loss for her to leave the foster home.
We will hopefully receive our I800 approval later this week. I am kind of freaking out because we filled out the paperwork to get a text notice when it was received but never got anything. FedEx shows it was received and signed for so praying it is on it's way to landing on our officer's desk in the next few days. After that just a few more steps to go...we are hoping and praying we will be able to meet Finley on November 16th, as long as we don't hit any snags that should happen.
