Transitioning

This is the last week I will be at home full time with Frances before returning to work...time has gone by way...too...fast!  In preparation we are transitioning her into daycare a few hours at a time this week.  We found a place we really like and it is only a few blocks from our house so it will be easy to drop her off on the way to work.  I am going to be a mess when I go back to work...I pretty much expect to be in my office moping for the first few days (or weeks, or months).  I think Frances is going to be fine, she needs to be around other kids and any time we have visited the daycare she didn't want to leave.  Tomorrow morning she is going for an hour or 2 so we made these little treats to take with us tomorrow for the other kids in her room...I think I made too many but I was on a roll!

Each one is filled with a couple of fortune cookies...

Frances is a future hand model :)

Chen Chen is her Chinese nickname and it has kinda' stuck...so much so that we have yet to call her Frances at home!

And of course no post is complete without pictures of my little crafting helper!

 

Sunday Snapshot {A Bear of a Day}

Of all of the toys she has, she always comes back to her friend the bear who I think I paid all of $2 for during an after Christmas clearance sale a couple of years ago while we were still paper-chasing.

Even though we have just given up Frances' afternoon nap, she decided that Bear needed a nap yesterday..."Bear tired, Bear nap" she kept saying.  She rocked him, sang to him, gave him a kiss and tucked him in.

This is the look I got when I asked if she wanted to take a nap with her Bear...nice try mama :)

Of course bears need to go potty when they get up from their nap...

On the way downstairs it was decided that bear needed a bath..."Mama Bear bath! Bear bath!"

So we made our way down to the chilly basement to give the Bear his bath in the washing machine...

And then waited for him to dry...

All so he could be tucked in for another nap on the couch ♥

P Is For...

Parents...my parents drove up from Tennessee yesterday (just in time for the snow!) so they could meet Frances.  Her face lit up as soon as she saw them, we have Skyped with them regularly including when we were in China so I think she recognized them :)

Presents...I thought I got a lot of stuff in the mail, I was wrong as she gets something every day!  The dress was made by a friend and my parent's neighbor made her the blanket, definitely things we will treasure!  Oh and the new boots may have been a present from Mama ;)

Pinterest...This last weekI actually made some of the things I have Pinned...I can vouch that this, this, and this are worth making and are super easy and yummy!  I also pinned this and used it as inspiration to make this wreath for a friend...

Please don't put Pixie's dog biscuits in your mouth!  She think this is the funniest thing ever.  She doesn't eat them, she just likes to put one in her mouth and then spit it out for Pixie, I my have encouraged this behavior through my laughter.

And lastly...P is for Pretty Darn Cute!

 

 

Sunday Snapshot

Yes, her whisk matches her dress...and yes her dress was purchased this morning while at the store buying the ingredients for the cake we are making.  

No I should not be allowed to buy groceries in a store where they also sell clothing...especially clothing with Hello Kitty on it :)

 

                                         

Too Kind...

I would like to thank everyone for their kind words about Mugsy...our house is definitely not the same without him around & poor Pixie is kind of mopey :(  This picture is from the night he passed and it pretty much sums up the tone around here...

We are trying to keep spirits up and find fun things to do, like crafting...

Sadness....

Yesterday was pretty much the worst Valentines Day ever because we had to say goodbye to sweet Mugsy :(

I am at a loss for words other than he was hands down one of the best dogs ever, second only to sweet Opie.  He had the most personality and our house is empty without his Wookie screams. He is the namesake of my blog, the inspiration for about a gazillion scrapbook pages, and he helped a scared little girl know how awesome pugs (and dogs in general) are.  Once again I have no words so here are a few fave. pictures...

Nap-time Craftiness

Yesterday Frances went for a haircut...well more of a trim, we are letting her hair grow out, but thanks to the haircut she had from China it was starting to look kind of like a mullet, not cute.  While her bangs are growing out she will be rocking the Pebbles Flintstone look for a while.

I had a few hair bows I bought before we traveled and while looking at them I starting thinking "hmmmmm, I could make something like that", because I have so much free time and all ;)

I just happened to own everything I would need...

My reluctant model....i'm in trouble because she is really starting to hate having her picture taken!
